We stayed at Courtyard by Marriott San Diego because it was close to the Marine Corp Recruit Depot. Our son was graduating from the MCRD San Diego. The room was perfect with a comfortable king size bed, a sofa with a pullout bed, very nice size bathroom, and a refrigerator. This was all we needed for our stay with the hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location is perfect being close to Old Town and plenty of nice restaurants. I have only two complaints. The first is the hotel charges $30 extra to park on the premises, but don't worry there's plenty of streets to park close. The other is the highways can be confusing when going beyond Old Town, so be sure to use Google Maps.

My experience has been amazing!! Had a mishap happen with my mom’s flight so she needed a hotel to stay at same night. I called this hotel’s front desk and BRIANNA answered. She was kind and patient with me. She helped answer all my questions and even helped me look for other solutions to obstacles I was having. When my mom arrived, turns out I made a mistake in the booking and Brianna helped me sort that out within ten minutes. She showed the utmost hospitality, care, and respect to my mom as she waited in the hotel lobby for me to sort everything. She assured me via phone call that everything would be taken care of and she did just that! My mom has also stated that her in-person experience with Brianna has been exactly what I have experienced over the phone. Brianna is definitely an exceptional employee and I hope she gets her flowers for this review. Thank you, Brianna!

I'm not sure I would classify this as a 3 star hotel. It does have a nice location, convenient to Old Town and the airport. The room was fairly comfortable and quiet with the exception of the doors. You could hear doors opening and shutting constantly. They were quite heavy, and the handles/locking mechanism was really LOUD. There was a living area with a tv that was fine. You could not comfortably watch tv from bed, (2nd tv) because it was on a wall running parallel to the bed, and as mentioned in a previous review, trying to get from the main screen to a channel was a bit of a challenge. It did have a mini-fridge and a small microwave, which was nice. We did not bring toiletries, as our experience has usually been that the nicer accommodations had decent supplies in the room. There were containers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the tub area, but the conditioner was completely empty. Personnel seemed pleasant enough. The parking is tight and it took a couple of manuevers to get a compact car into the covered space. We had a bit of an adventure, as we were awakened at a little after 11 pm to a VERY effective fire alarm. Lights were flashing everywhere, a very calm but very loud recording let us know that a fire alert had been triggered and we were to evacuate the building immediately. That was accomplished efficiently, and luckily it wasn't raining. We were outside for about half an hour & then were cleared to return to our rooms, for the most part. There had been a water leak, I'm assuming a sprinkler system malfunction, affecting several rooms on two floors, and the covered parking which resulted in a free "carwash". The in-house food offerings were adequate for breakfast. We were not there for other meals. It was, all in all, clean, fairly comfortable, and in a good location. It just wasn't our favorite stop on our trip.

I stayed at the Courtyard Old Town a couple of times, and it has now become my favorite place to stay in the San Diego area. The staff ALWAYS goes above and beyond to make you feel at home - from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping and management its hands down unrivaled by any other Bonvoy property that I've stayed at in and around SoCal. Kudos to the front desk - Brianna, Brian, Mike, and Kelly for making all my stays enjoyable. Cheers and keep up the superb customer service.

Great location. Close to the airport, great bars and restaurants are a 2 block walk away. Accomodations are standard but Leanna at the front desk is incredible. Part of the entrance to my room had fallen victim to the atmospheric river that pummeled San Diego that week. Leanna listened to my concerns and was able to help me relocate. She was sincere and genuine in her communication and made the experience much more pleasant than I expected. I would give the hotel 5 stars if it was based just on her customer service.

Really like staying here. Probably stayed at least 50 times over the past 15+ years. Unfortunately I had to stay in a handicap room because they were over sold, but at least I got to stay there, after arriving very late for check in due to delayed flights. Will definitely stay again! Best location in old town.

Awesome staff. Brian at the front desk, made my 30th wedding anniversary celebration much more special and I truly appreciate him for that. Their dining room is very nice. Will be back again. The Courtyard, by Marriott is centrally located one block from Old Town San Diego. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every minute of it.
